Monochromatic Pencil highlighting - MFT Floral Focus

Hello there, it is Verity here from Pretty Little Button for the Bumbleberry Design team. As soon as I saw this Floral Focus from My Favorite Things I knew it needed to be the centre of attention and the best way to highlight a stamp such as this is to use a monochromatic scheme and add some shading with pencils. Using a base colour of cardstock like this helps make it easier to make the colouring look effortless, and anybody could achieve this.

To start off, trim a piece of Gina K Double Denim cardstock down to 5.25" x 4 and position inside a MISTI stamping platform. Next, lay the MFT Floral Focus stamp over the card in a position you are happy with a close the MISTI door to pick up the stamp.

Using some clear embossing ink, stamp the design onto the card and cover with clear gloss embossing powder. Next, use a heat gun to heat set the powder.

To colour the stamp, use a selection of blue pencils that complement the cardstock as well as a white pencil. Lay down white in the highlight areas before adding any other colour to make sure they stay light. Next start building the colour up, adding dark blue in the shadows. I find it easy to go from dark to light, but do what you find easiest.

You can use the white to help blend the colours. Once all the flowers are coloured in, adhere the panel to a white card base. Next, die-cut the Altenew Fancy Thanks die from white card 3 times and layer up with Gina K connect glue for dimension.
