Hello there, it is Verity here from Pretty Little Button for the Bumbleberry Design team. Sometimes all you need is a bit of time to just sit and colour. The Flower Garden stamp set from Altenew is ideal for this, with simple outline stamps with large images ideal for even beginners to colour. I also really wanted to use the Altenew Miss You die - I love these script words dies from Altenew at the moment. It pairs so well with florals to make a sweet card to send to a friend.
Written and photos Floral miss you:
Start off by stamping a floral and few leaves from the Altenew Flower Garden stamp set onto Strathmore Tone Gray paper in embossing ink. For the colouring, I'm using Faber Castell PolyChromos pencils and prefer to colour on Strathmore Tone Gray paper. However, if you prefer another paper or colouring medium you can change to your preferred method.
Start off by lightly adding a dark colour to the areas where the petals meet. Next work outwards to the next lightest pencil in your colour tone overlapping the colours. Remember to work your colour with the shape of the petal. Keep adding colour until you reach your lightest shade. When you reach the lightest shade work backwards adding more pressure to blend the colours until you reach the darkest tone.
Repeat this process until all the petals are coloured. Next, go in with a much darker shade into the nooks of the petals to add more depth. Repeat this process for the leaves and when complete die-cut these out.
For the background, using a blending brush apply soft grey ink through the Altenew Broken Chevron stencil onto Pebble Hero Hues cardstock. Next, die-cut the Altenew Mid-century die out of white cardstock twice and one from a rose gold satin cardstock. Layer the two white die-cuts using liquid glue and then add the rose gold die-cut offset slightly to allow the white to show through.
In addition, die-cut the Altenew Miss you word die out of black satin cardstock. For the sb-sentiment, stamp a sentiment from the Altenew Hello and Hugs stamp set in soft grey ink and trim down into a thin strip.
To assemble the card, adhere the frame die to the card, offset into one corner. Next, adhere the flower and leaves onto the frame using 3d Foam square pads for added depth and dimension.
For the sentiment, add thin strips of foam adhesive to raise the sentiment up. Lastly, finish the card off with a selection of mirror sequins.
