Hello there, it is Verity here from Pretty Little Button for the Bumbleberry Design team. Now, I love Catherine Pooler Inks; the colours are stunning and she has a beautiful range! However, they're not just perfect for stamping (the foam pad makes it is easy with just a few 'love taps'), but there are many other techniques you can do with them. So I thought why not show you some creative ways with Catherine Pooler inks whilst making a few cards at the same time! I've also used the fabulous Cocktail Party stamp & die set - how funky is this set? Also, I think it would be great for masculine cards too!

Faux watercolouring:
For this first card, we're going to do some 'watercolouring' with the inks. Smoosh Royal Treatment, Sangria and Sugared Lavender down onto a glass mat and spritz with some water until the ink beads up.
With a piece of watercolour card, add clear clean water all over the panel. Next, with a flat brush, load up with Sugared Lavendar and add to the bottom third. Next, repeat this with Sangria to the middle of the card. Make sure you blend this into Sugared Lavendar. The ink reacts with water so blends beautifully.
Finish the backgrounds with Royal Treatment and set to one side to dry. To complete this card, add a black sentiment using the Deco Thanks die from Catherine Pooler designs and add a few Ebony Black Nuvo drops.
Ink smooshing
As I mentioned above, the inks are reactive with water, so they are also great for ink smooshing. Smoosh Chiffon, Bellin, Do-si-do, Coral Cabana and Samba down into a space on your glass mat. Next, sprtiz with water so the inks bead up.
With a piece of watercolour card, smoosh this down repeatedly down onto the inks picking up and layering the colours. When you are happy, leave the background to dry. To create this card, I used a Nesting Square Infinity die to add the background to a card base. However, if you prefer you can use the whole panel.
Ink layering on stamps
You can also layer the inks when stamping and you'll need a MISTI for this. Stamp a selection of the cocktails glasses from the Cocktail Party stamp set in Black Jack ink.
Next, add either Cummerbund or Something Borrowed ink over the solid-liquid stamps of the glasses and stamp. to layer the ink, add a darker shade of blue to the bottom half of the stamps in either Suede Shoes or Fiesta Blue. Before you stamp these, soften the edge of the ink with a wet cloth or baby wipe.
Repeat this for a soft fade, the inks will smooth out as they dry. Next, use the coordinating dies to cut out the images and foam mount onto the card. Add a heat embossed sentiment from the Cocktail Party stamp set and finish with a few Ebony Black Nuvo drops.
Ink blending and reactivity
These inks are also great to blend! With an ink blending tool and foam sponge, ink blend Orange Peel onto a card panel and blend this into Shea Butter ink. For a smooth blend, use a slick surface to blend on.
Again as the inks are water-reactive, you can add a fun water splatter to the background. With a paintbrush, splatter clean water onto the ink blended background allow sitting there for 5-10 seconds. Next, use a dry cloth to dry the panel and you will have a bleached paint splatter look.
I used the Cocktail stamp & die set again for this card but switch the colours up. For this card, I used Daydream and Hot Tub together, and then Stone Blue with Juniper mist. Again the card was finished with heat embossed sentiment and a few Ebony Black Nuvo drops.
